Maaseik ties the final!! For all of those that thought that Maaseik was finished and Knack would win the final in 3 because of the fact that they had won most of the matches they had played each other, well it is time to rethink your assumptions. Tonight we saw how any team can come away with a win in any particular night. Maaseik had a chance to win in 4 sets tonight but Knack hung on and forced a 5th set where everything seemed to be going well for our guys in blue until they reached the 10th point and got stuck in a rotation. From then on it was all Maaseik and at the en they come out with a great comeback and a win to tie the Final Series at one match a piece. Now both teams will face each other once more in Schiervelde where we all saw how close the competition was. If anybody expects still an easy roll over win for Knack Randstad Roeselare in this finals well, then that person has not seen any of the first two matches these two teams have had against each other. Knack takes the first match of the Final!!!! Exciting the match everybody had a chance to watch last night in Schiervelde when the two best teams in Belgium met once again in the final for the 14th year in a row. Maaseik had not beaten Knack in Schiervelde but everybody expected a really tough match and it was one for sure. The first set was a walk over for Knack over Maaseik with a final score of 25-14, but when action was renewed in the second everybody saw how easy things change in volleyball and Maaseik started having more success in service and that made things a lot more difficult for Knack dropping that second set 21-25. The ten minute break came and once again as before both teams were tied at 1 set a piece. When the third set started both teams were playing at a better level and it showed with great rallies back and forth. At the end our guys in blue are able to take that 3rd set 25-21 to get a slight lead of 2-1. The fourth set was similar to the 2nd where Maaseik took over actions and started to score one point after another with no answer from the local team who had a lot of reception problems during the set and gave away easy points by getting blocked a couple of times and not being able to change possession of the ball as often as needed. Maaseik took the 4th 19-25 and forced a 5th set that promised to be an exciting one. The 5th set did not disappoint. Actions started with some missed serves from Maaseik and that gave Knack a small mental advantage to try to get a break or two. The set got to a point where Knack seemed to have a fairly comfortable lead of 2 points but then Maaseik with great services came back and tied the set at 13 apiece. At the end and thanks to some great team effort, Knack finishes the set 15-13 to take a 1-0 lead in the final of the Belgian Championship. Now both teams meet again next Wednesday but now in Maaseik where Knack has beaten them a couple of times already. We hope they can have a good day and do it once again.
