Corozal seems to have Adjutnas number!
Easy night for the Plataneros when they received The Gigantes last night and dispatched them easily and quicly in 3 sets. The Gigantes could never get a rythm going on in the court. Maybe the week without competition for The Gigantes hurt them, we will see when they play again tomorrow night when they receive the Indios of Mayaguez.
Lets all go and support our Gigantes.

The Gigantes defend their court and get another win!
Just a quick note. Tonight the Gigantes faced their archrivals in the mountain the Patriotas of Lares. There is a lot of story between these two teams and their games are always exciting ones. Tonight the Gigantes played a very strong team performance where 4 of their players had double figure and that of course is always a great sign of a balanced team.
The game was always close but better execution from our guys at the end made the difference. Even when Lares has in their team 3 foreigners they could not establish pressure with their service and our Gigantes could put the reception where it needed to be for our setter Qinonez to do a great job and to distribute the game between all the players.
Now the Gigantes have a week where they can rest and also prepare for the next tough matches ahead. Now with these win the Gigantes jump to a respectable 4th place in the standing. Hopefully they can keep winning and keep rising in the ranks. We will keep you posted.

Adjuntas survives a scare!

Last night our Gigantes played against The Indios of Mayaguez but not in their normal gym that is being remodeled as preparations for the Central American Games in Mayaguez in 2010. They played in another (hot gym) in the city of Hormigueros.
After winning the first set with a good collective game Adjuntas was about to loose the second but they stayed calm and were able to put that second set under their belts and lead the match with a 2-0 lead.
To start the 3rd set the Indios of Mayaguez made a drastic change substituting their starting setter. Their second setter came in and gave the team a new life and a new rhythm of play which was more difficult for The Gigantes to stop and to decipher. Because of this the Indios were able to tie the match at 2 sets each and to force a decisive 5th set.
In the 5th, our Gigantes played a better collective match and at the end were able to close the match in 5 sets. Best scorers again for The Gigantes, Ivan Contreras and for the Indios Batista.
Our Gigantes play again tomorrow night, Friday against a good rival, The Patriotas of Lares who have been winning lately against everybody. We will see if our Gigantes can put a good match against them.
