First victory for The Gigantes!
What a different feeling being part of a victory. Tonight The Gigantes received The Mets of Guaynabo and it promised to be a hard match for our Gigantes.
A big difference was the show of effort from all the Adjuntas players and it showed in the result. They won the first and second set and seemed to be on well on their way to winning in 3 sets but Guaynabo had something different in mind. They made the match a lot more interesting by forcing a 4th set and also forcing The Gigantes to try to pick up their level of play.
Fortunately our guys did pick up their level and in the 4th they had a big run of about 6 points to take what could have been seen as a commanding lead of 8-2. The Mets stayed calm and slowly but surely started to come back and to decrease the lead The Gigantes had. By the second time out the lead was a lot less and the game was an intense one. The level of side out by both teams remained at a high level and they sided out consistently and at the end Adjuntas had about 4 chances to close out the match. They did it in two.
This was the first match that we can say that Adjuntas was complete. The last member of the team arrived a couple of days ago, had a good practice yesterday and the first match with the team today. People might think that he was a big reason for the higher energy the team had, time will tell.
Next match for our Gigantes, next Wednesday when they visit The Indios of Mayaguez that are playing this year in Hormiguero because of their usual gym being remodeled. Hope to see you there. Hoping that the next note posted in the page is also a positive one.

Yet another loss for The Gigantes!
Another nightmare night for the Gigantes in their own court. They could not take advantage of a fairly good start and could not capitalize in winning that first set after being ahead 22-20. At the end they lost that first set and with that all hopes of having a better night than the ones they had been having.
The second and third set were not much of a contest where the current champions of Puerto Rico settled down and started playing their own game. If only The Gigantes could find some stability in their basic skills the results could be different but reality is another one and the results are frustrating for the organization and for the whole team in general. Tonight another loss of 0-3.
One decision was taken after talking to Ivan after tonight's game. No more updates will be posted until his team wins. He said and I quote: "I hope the next post of a win is not until I am playing in Turkey". Let's hope it is not the case.
For now that is all and hope to be writing soon again. |

Frustrating loss for the Gigantes.
After leading 2 sets to 1 The Gigantes of Adjuntas could not finish the game in their favor last night against the New Gigantes de Carolina. This means the second loss in a row for The Gigantes in 5 sets in matches where they could have easily gotten away with the lead.
The difference again was the service pressure difference between both teams specially in the crucial moments of the match. That created again unstable side out play and a more predictable choice from the setter of Adjuntas.
At the end the scores of the match were: 27-29, 25-21, 23-25, 25-16 y 15-8. Ivan Contreras was the best scorer of the match with 25 points followed by the Gigante Yosleyder Cala con 25 from Carolina.
The Gigantes of Adjuntas continue their search of the first victory tomorrow Thursday when they face the current champions "Changos of Naranjito", a powerhouse in puertorrican volleyball to say the least. Hope our guys can play the whole match at the level they showed some moments during the last two matches. Picture taken from www.zonazaguera.com
