Great response to adversity!!!
|
There are some nights that shape the history of a team and last night might be one of those. Knack had had a lot of bad luck in terms of injuries to and extent of crippling them in one of the most important moments of the Belgian Competition so far. Everybody knew that they were being forced to improvise in more than one position since both the starting libero and the second best receiver were both injured for tonight's match against their archrival in red Noliko Maaseik.
One thing is for sure, whoever calls him or herself a fan of Knack Randstad Roeselare can be proud of belonging tonight to that club since our guys in blue showed not only cojones but character and determination inside and outside the court. They lost the first set in dramatic fashion 33-31 only to recover from what many people thought it would be a walkover for Maaseik after that first set. Our guys in blue won the second, the third and the fourth to brake everybody's expectations and to climb again to the top of the playoffs chart together with Antwerpen who won again last night, this time against Lennik. Scores for the last 3 sets won by Knack were 25-21, 25-15 and 25-20.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves and start talking again about Champions League and Championships since we all know too well that the road to that championship is just beginning and it is a long one. Tonight was a great night for the team as a club but it was only that, ONE NIGHT! Our players have to still deal with the fact that the team is crippled and that the road will have a lot of adverse situations ahead.
Now Knack receives Halen this coming Wednesday again in Schiervelde so there we will be able to see if the way our guys played tonight can be relived by everybody that was fortunate enough to watch last night's match.

Lennik beats Roeselare!!
Just a quick note on tonight's match. Roeselare had to go and play in the always difficult gym of Lennik where this time they lost 3-1 with scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 25-22.
Now our guys in blue have nothing else to do but focus on their next match which is also a tough one when this Saturday they receive in Schiervelde Maaseik who tonight also dropped their match in Averbode 3-2.
This results immediately make the playoffs a lot more interesting and for sure more dramatic for all of us to watch and follow the action. Hope to see you Saturday. |

1-3 for Knack in Waasland
The last match of the regular season showed how Knack still wants to win every single match they participate in. The first set was a dominating one for Knack imposing their service and attack against a team that on paper is a dangerous one but in reality depend on the performance of a few players in the court and that makes them vulnerable. The score of that first set was a lob sided win of 15-25.
The second set showed how Knack started to relax a bit already and gave the chance to PNV Waasland to stay in the set longer than in the first. At the end Knack was able to finish that set too with a score of 21-25.
After the 10 minute break which has been a thorn in Knack's season so far proved once again to disrupt the playing rhythm of our guys in blue to make things a lot harder in the 3rd set. Waasland came out and capitalize on mistakes by Knack players in every aspect to take that 3rd set witha score of 25-18.
The 4th saw once again how Knack found a better playing rhythm and were able to dominate once more the actions in the court to take that final set 17-25.
Now Knack has to focus once again on raising their level of play and to be consistent since the playoffs start this coming Wednesday and the week promises to be one that might be the most important of the coming weeks for Knack in terms of results. Wednesday they face off against Lennik in their home where they have already dropped the only match they lost during the regular season in 5 sets. Then on Saturday they receive the visit of Maaseik in Schiervelde so if they have a good result in these two matches that will give them some breathing room for the coming weeks to keep preparing for the rest of the season.
