Ivan Contreras was named among the best players of the qualification torunament last night since he was key for Mexico´s qualification into the World Championships Italy 2010. The all star team was as follows:

On being selected as MVP Ivan comments: ¨I am sure that the fact that the tournmanet was organized in Mexico helped into me getting named as MVP, I know there are a lot other players more deserving of the title but it is one that I welcome with pride and honor. I know of the importance of the match against Dominicana for the volleyball in Mexico and we had a good night there.¨ ¨It is always nice to stand amongst all those great players.¨

Ivan Contreras honored by the Jaiba Brava Basketball club!
Tampico, Tamaulipas. Mexico, June 28, 2008. In a halftime of the semiprofessional game between the Jaiba Brava of Tampico Madero and the team of Madero Ivan Contreras was honored and recognized by the organization of the basketball club for his results in both Europe and with the national team. The organization of the basketball club is due thanks to the desire of Mr. Miguel Angel Martinez of promoting high level sports in the area of Tampico and Madero. This desire has pushed him into acquiring the franchise of the soccer club Tampico-Madero and now expanding by buying a semiprofessional basketball team.
The reasons why Ivan was recognized and honored can be found by reading his curriculum that is downloadable here. He was presented with a nice plaque given to him by the Sportive Director of the Jaiba Brava, Mr. Ricardo Mujica and the president of the Jaiba Brava Basketball Club, Mr. Fidel Martinez. He was also presented with a small present given to him by the organization of the club. He was accompanied by his son Diego and by members of his family who also attended the basketball game.
For this token of recognition, Ivan is thankful since in the area of Tampico and Madero not many people know of the results Ivan has gotten through the years in the European volleyball where he has enjoyed a great career so far and is planning of continuing with it for the next couple of years.

Ivan Contreras, Player of the Year 2008!
For the 3rd time in his carreer and for the second year in a row, Ivan Contreras was named yesterday (April 28, 2008) as Player of the Year for the season 2007-2008 in the Belgian Competition. The way the selection is done is the following. There are two votings during the regular season, in each voting there are 400 points to give away to the different candidates. Then there are two websites where people can vote at the end of the season where there are another 100 points in each site to give away to the candidates. So a total of 1000 points have to be distributed to see who the player of the year will be.

Ivan Contreras, again Player of the Year!

It has become a tradition in Knack Randstad Reselare for the Fan Club to make a voting to choose their Player of the Year. This voting is conducted once during the regular season and once after the regular season is finished. It seems that it has also become a tradition for Ivan Contreras to win that prize since he has accumulated a total of 4 during his career in the team.
Ivan Contreras summed in both votings (423ptn.) in the first and (352 ptn) in the second round of voting to give a total of 775 points. In second place came Julien Lemay with 472 in the first voting and 334 in the second to have a total of 138 points, third was Wouter Verhelst with a total of 448, 261 in the first voting and 187 in the second. Nice to see also the total points of our Matthijs Verhanneman with 225 points finishing in 7th. Ivan Contreras got a really nice trophy handed over and the Knack Randstad Fan Club team had a bottle for each player and coaches.

Men's and Women's Indesit European Champions League 2007/08
Luxembourg, 22nd February 2008. During the Playoffs 12 of the Men's and the Women’s Indesit European Champions’ League 2007/08, eight players claimed the desired awards, sponsored by the competition’s main partner ‘Indesit’.
With 128 points scored in 22 sets played, Ivan Contreras topped the Best Scorers' list ahead of Agamez Urango Liberman Cristho (Panathinaikos Athens/120 points) and Yordanov Boyan (Olympiacos Piraeus/119 points). With 122 attack kills, he was also awarded as 'Best Spiker' of the League Round. He received the Indesit Awards during the last match played at home by Knack Randstad ROESELARE.
Dinamo MOSCOW’s top scorer Ekaterina GAMOVA seized the IECL League Round award ‘Best Scorer’ with 127 points in 21 sets played and was also awarded as 'Best Spiker' with 112 attack kills. She received both Indesit trophies in Jesi in the frame of the away-match, played by her club.
